6 Must Be Seen Places In Kuala Lumpur

If you are thinking about traveling to Malaysia for a holiday or are stopping over in Kuala Lumpur on your way to some place else, perhaps Australia, then you may be wondering what you can do while you are there. Here are a few places of great interest that you can add to your itinerary.
* The Petronas Towers
The Petronas Towers are not only a “must-see” while in Malaysia but are actually very hard to miss if you spend any time in central Kuala Lumpur. Recently these were the tallest buildings in the world and stand at the height of 452 meters above ground level. Inside you can see the Petronas Philharmonic Hall, the Petronas Art Gallery and also the KLCC Aquarium – an ocean aquarium which holds various sealife including sharks and stingrays. If you are a keen shopper then one of the largest shopping malls lies below the Towers.
* Kuala Lumpur Tower
Also known as Menara Kuala Lumpur, is situated in the very heart of KL having been constructed in 1995. It is currently on record as being the 5th tallest tower in the world and stands at 421 meters. Within the tower there is a revolving restaurant which offers superb views of the city to diners.
* Malaysian National Museum
Museum Negara lies not far from Perdana Lake Gardens. It is built in the style of a Rumah Gadang and is situated on top of a hill at Jalan Travers. The museum is a great introduction to the the hereditary and history of Malaysia.
* The National Palace
The National Palace is the home to the King of Malaysia, as the name implies it to be. It was the home to the Sultan of Selangor once the Japanese occupation of 1941 to 1945 came to an end. In 1957 however, the Government acquired the Palace to be the King’s residential Palace.
* Malaysian National Mosque
The National Mosque is so large that it can easily accommodate up to 15 thousand people at any one time. It is the main feature of 13 acres of lovely gardens and the main features include a 73 meter high minaret and a star design for the main roof area. The gardens are dotted with various water features throughout.
* The Central Market
This was the main fish market of the city and is also known as Pasar Seni. However, now the main offerings are antiques and paintings, arts and crafts, clothes and souvenirs for the traveler. The building is designed in the old British colonnial style.
