Reichstag
When you visit Berlin you will have the opportunity to appreciate the beautiful Reichstag which has witnessed the most poignant historical moments of Germany during the past century.
The construction of this building was finished in 1894 and it is the meeting place for the German parliament. Throughout time it has suffered fires, demolitions and battles but despite all that, its beauty is undeniable since after every incident there was a master mind willing to reconstruct and improve this emblematic building.
The dome was added during the repair jobs and it has turned the Reichstag into a symbol of Berlin and a world class touristic attraction.
The visit to this exquisite parliament begins by the western gate where you should clear at a security control. After that, there is an elevator which leads to the rooftop where you can see from close this enormous metallic structure.
Inside the dome there are two ramps of 2 meters wide which allows you two climb up to a viewing point which is 40 meters higher than the floor, and from there you will be able to appreciate the beauty of Berlin.
The Reichstag it’s located in the “Tiergarten” neighbourhood. To arrive there you must take the “strassenbahn” which is the tramway of the city and then exit at “unter der linden” tram station. Or if you prefer you can get there using the metro, the closest station is “oranienburger tor” which is station of the line U6.
