A trip to Europe could be an eye-opening, exciting experience for a teenager. Meeting new people, seeing how other cultures live, and getting the chance to be fully immersed in a completely different society is a wonderful learning experience for any teenager. There are a variety of summer programs for teenagers. These programs allow the kids a chance to see a different part of the world and brush up on their language skills or learn a new language altogether, all without missing any of the school year.

While Europe is a big place, most summer programs for teenagers go to a few particular countries – Italy, France, Spain, Greece, and the United Kingdom. There are a lot of great reasons to go to any of these countries. Many summer programs choose Italy for obvious reasons. It’s the perfect place for teens to work on their Italian language skills, learn more about Italian culture, and get a great history lesson in the form of seeing ruins, architecture, and art from Ancient Rome. Greece is a good place for teens to visit on a summer program, too. Western civilization was founded there, and the country is full of cultural and architectural wonders.

Many summer programs for teenagers go to France. It’s a great place for teens to learn French, see historic sights, and get to know more about the French people. Spain is also a popular destination for summer programs. The Spanish people are known to be friendly and welcoming, and they have a fascinating culture that is of interest to teens. Plus, it’s a wonderful place to learn Spanish or brush up on existing Spanish skills. The United Kingdom is an obvious choice, as its inhabitants speak English, making it an easily accessible place for teenagers. Summer trips to England are very popular, as sharing a common language makes it easy to really get a sense for the culture and make new friends.

There are many different kinds of summer programs for teenagers. Some programs focus on an in-depth tour of one country, seeing the historical sites and learning more about the country. Other programs offer whirlwind tours of several different countries. Still other programs are mostly language-intensive, giving teenagers the opportunity to practice their language skills. Some programs are volunteer-based, where teenagers spend part of their summer volunteering in a European city. Many programs have the teens stay together in dormitories or hotels, but some programs offer the opportunity to stay with a host family. This can be a great way to learn more about the culture of a particular country, as well as meet new people and learn new language skills.

A trip to Europe could be the beginning of a world of opportunity for a teenager. As the world gets smaller and smaller, the future will be brightest for those who are willing to embrace the ever-changing global economy. Teenagers who have exposure to foreign cultures will be ahead of the pack when it comes to the future.

Ways to Get from Barcelona to Paris

Details of the way to go from Barcelona in Spain to Paris in France by numerous types of transportation.

You can find frequent flights from Barcelona to Paris. They’re typically cheaper and of course much faster than the train, bus or car.

Barcelona to Paris by Train

The direct train from Barcelona to Paris takes twelve hours although there is certainly a faster means if you change in Montpellier, shortening the transport time to 8 hours of travel and a 1 hour break in your journey. Nonetheless, this method is a lot more pricey and involves the inconvenience of changing trains.
The faster method (with the change) costs a hundred sixty five euros, although the 12-hour non-stop journey costs one hundred ten euros.
Trains from Barcelona to Paris start out from Barcelona Franca station.
Renfe.es, Spain’s official rail website, is a mess and was described as “like Alice in Wonderland, where nothing seems to be what it really is” by Trip Advisor. Nationals of Canada and USA should use Rail Europe as an alternative to have their tickets delivered to their house. Other citizens should also utilize the website to ensure timetables and then obtain tickets in the flesh.
Note that journey times from Spain to France will be {slashed in 2012, when a faster train route will come into service: Madrid (and Barcelona) to Paris by High Speed Train.

Need somewhere to stay in Barcelona – Check Out Oh-Barcelona.com

Barcelona to Paris by Bus

There’s one bus per day from Barcelona to Paris. The journey takes 15 hours and costs more or less seventy five euros.
Buses from Barcelona to Paris leave from both Sants and Nord bus stations.
You can buy the majority of bus tickets in Spain online for a fantastically small add-on (two euros). Simply buy it with a bank card and print out the e-ticket – to a great extent better than waiting in a queue at the bus station.
The identical ticket can be bought with Eurolines, although Movelia is a lot easier to use.

Staying in Paris overnight? Why not look at latin quarter apartments

Barcelona to Paris by Car

The drive from Barcelona to Paris lasts about 9h30m, traveling mostly on the AP-7, A9, A75, A71 and A10 roads. Notice – AP roads are toll roads.

Flying to Tenerife is easy any time of year with wide a selection of low-fare airlines and UK and Ireland airports.

Airports:

Aberdeen Belfast Birmingham Blackpool Bournemouth Bristol Cardiff Cork Doncaster Dublin Durham Tees Edinburgh Exeter Gatwick Glascow Leeds Liverpool Luton Manchester Newcastle Norwich Nottingham Shannon Stansted

Airlines:

British Airways Jet2 Monarch Scheduled Aerlingus Ryanair Thomsonfly Flyglobespan

Flights to Tenerife are very reasonable, currently staring at around-8. The largest of the Canary Islands, Tenerife is a popular destination among UK travelers. Tenerife generally has two busy seasons. The first is during the winter when it experiences an influx of older tourists escaping winter’s chill. The second extends from May to October, with families and college students on holiday.

The world-famous Tenerife Carnival is held in February in Santa Cruz. Held in the two weeks before Lent, Tenerife Carnival rivals Rio for size and grandeur. The party culminates with a parade and the Burial of the Sardine, in which a huge model sardine is carried through the streets, followed by mourners, and eventually burned.

You will likely find the best deals in the off-season. The climate is fairly constant, so you’ll still be able to enjoy the beaches and attractions in less-crowded conditions.

There are two airports on Tenerife. Most traffic comes into Tenerife South Reina Sofia Airport (TFS), which also offers more than 100 connecting flights to additional destinations. Tenerife North handles inter-island flights for island hoppers. You can also take the ferry to explore the other Canary Islands.

The Canary Islands are known as the Islands of Eternal Springtime for a reason. There is little difference between summer and winter temperatures with winter temperatures bottoming out at-C. Summer months are balmy but comfortable. But, as an illustration of this island’s contrasts, the average annual temperature at the inland the Teide National Park is only 9C.

As you would expect, Tenerife offers white, sandy beaches and a lively night life. Beyond the usual tourist attractions, visitors find vast natural beauty and splendid landscapes. The snow-capped Mount Teide rises from the center of the island, providing its breathtaking backdrop. In the north, you’ll find a variety of wildlife and their habitats, ranging form rugged rocky coves to lush greenery. Farther south, the beaches stretch in the sun – home to resorts like Playa de las Americas and Los Cristianos.

Tenerife’s capital city, Santa Cruz, offers tax-free shopping for bargain hunters. The Mercado de Nuestra Senora de Africa, an Artistic Historical Monument, has galleries of merchants of all varieties surrounding a central courtyard and clock tower. One of Spain’s largest ports, this cosmopolitan city also offers parks and historical theaters.

Cable rides to the top of Mount Tiede, one of the world’s largest volcanoes, will offer spectacular views from the highest point in the Atlantic Ocean.

For children of all ages, the Monkey Zoo is a must. Located in Los Cristianos, most of the animal cages are open for visitors to walk into. You can buy food for the animals at the entrance, so you are guaranteed an up-close experience with a variety of animals including ring-tailed lemurs and iguanas.

Susan is the marketing director for the UK’s leading Flight comparison portal, which includes detailed information on Flights To Tenerife

There's no sightseeing like Torrevieja sightseeing. Here is why you should visit the Costa Blanca region of Spain.

by Peter Wilson

There’s no sightseeing like Torrevieja sightseeing. Here is why you should visit the Costa Blanca region of Spain.

Torrevieja is located at the south end of the world-renowned “White Coast” of Spain. Torrevieja offers a very mild climate, plenty of sun and miles of white beaches to enjoy. It is within easy reach of Alicante Airport. What was once a quiet salt-mining and fishing town has become a booming resort city.

Do you want to do something different this vacation? Try taking a salt bath. Many people say the salt lakes of Torrevieja can ease arthritis and various skin diseases. The salt water baths are warm most of the year. You will have a delightfully soothing experience. This can be an excellent way to relax your muscles after playing a round or two on the area’s fine golf courses.

Another unique attraction is the Museum of Sea and Salt. Here you can find out about Torrevieja’s salt industry. You can also view many models made of salt, include ships. There is also a real submarine and archeological artifacts to investigate.

Spain has a long religious history so be sure to visit the Holy Week Museum of Tomas Valcarcel, created by a local artist to honor the city’s Passion Week processions. These processions are a beloved tradition and so the museum is closed that week before Easter so you can experience the real thing. The procession is very impressive and worthy of a permanent museum, so you can experience the artistry that goes into each one.

Torrevieja loves a party so it hosts a festival nearly every month. The Christmas season always sees three back-to-back celebrations, spring brings Easter celebrations and the May fair, while summer is by far the busiest season. There is even a festival honoring tourists that takes place each August. In fall, take part in the Festival of Vendimia, the El Pilar festival and the annual All Saints Day festivities. When you have set a date for your vacation, look online to see what events are planned. It is always fun to vacation during a festival.

When you are not sightseeing, there is still plenty to do. There are many charming boutiques and gift shops to explore. Also be sure to sample the delicious cuisine available at the many restaurants in the area.

As you can see there is plenty to see and do in Torrevieja. You certainly will not be bored. You may get tired though. Fortunately, there is a wide range of accommodations to suit every budget and need. If you are traveling with small children, you may find renting a villa a reasonable option in order to give the little ones a quiet place to nap.

When you visit, don’t be surprised at the many cultures you will experience. The Costa Blanca has long been Europe’s vacation and retirement destination. You will meet people from Scandinavia, Germany and Britain, many of whom have chosen to settle here permanently. After one visit, you may want to do the same.

Since so much of Spain’s wellbeing depends upon its vital tourist dollars, government plans and tourism incentives have been ramped up to entice foreigners with a few dollars to spend. Even if you feel you don’t have much money socked away in the bank, it’s hard to say “no” to a $579 round-trip flight from www.bt-store.com or pass up on a $19/night room at an exciting backpacker’s hostel. If hotels resorts are more your taste, you’ll be happy to know you can find a fully furnished Manhattan-style apartment for less than $80/night too! Here you’ll find some travel information to ensure you get the most from your trip.

Eating is a big part of any vacation, especially when you’re traveling outside of the United States to a faraway land, with its own unique culinary experiences. You won’t feel completely foreign when you see Pizza Hut, Burger King, McDonald’s and Starbucks, but you’ll definitely want to resist the temptation to go with your comfort zone and try something new. Madrid, Spain is known for exotic dishes like Cocido Madrileo (meat and chick pea stew), Potaje de Garbanzos (chick pea stew), Cochinillo Asado (roasted sucking pig), Bocata de Calamares (fried calamari sandwich on French bread), Tortilla de Patatas (omelet, onion and potatoes), Patatas Bravas (fried potatoes with spicy tomato sauce), Huevos Rotos (eggs fried over French fries) or Porras (thick battered churros, eaten with coffee). Often travel professionals at your hotel concierge can direct you to some of the area’s best restaurants.

Naturally, after eating all that rich food, you’ll need to walk around and see the sights of Madrid. At the ultra-modern Cosmo Caixa (science museum), you’ll catch a glimpse of how the Earth was created, how tornadoes work and play with interactive exhibits that will keep the kids busy for hours. Visit a zoo, an amusement park, a garden and a bullfighting school at Casa de Campo, which is the “Central Park” of Madrid. At Casa de Amrica you will see stunning 19th century architecture and, the locals warn, you may even see a ghost! Capricho de la Alameda de Osuna is one of the most tranquil settings in bustling Madrid. As a hideout for Napoleon’s soldiers, these well-manicured gardens are fit for a duchess (the Duchess of Osuna, to be exact). Nuestra Seora de la Almudena is a neoclassical cathedral built in the 19th century, which tops many Madrid travel plan itineraries. Similarly, the art museum at Baslica de San Francisco el Grande cannot be missed.

A vacation is also a great opportunity to go shopping and find newfound treasures to take back home. Madrid travel offers numerous fashion boutiques, specialty shops and shopping districts to choose from. Calle Preciados and Calle Montera are only accessible by foot and showcase both women’s and men’s apparel. Calle Serrano is home to the most sophisticated designer boutiques and art galleries. Similarly, Calle Goya and Calle Alcal are popular designer shopping streets. Calle Princesa and Calle Bravo Murillo have a number of great clothing and shoe shops. In El Rasto, shoppers will find more than just clothing, as pet accessories, furniture, art and books can also be purchased here. Another eclectic area is Calle Gran Va, which is bustling with clothing shops, cinemas and popular hotels. La Vaguada is the region’s largest shopping mall, with over 300 stores in a small area, as well as a cinema, bowing alley and several trendy cafes. As you can see, there is much to do in Madrid, Spain!

Discount travel information can be found at www.wholesale-flights.com, for example, where flights to Madrid can be found for as low as $325 round-trip! All the other prices noted in this article refer to prices found on the carriers’ websites, however, to give you an overall idea of how these tickets are regularly priced. Estimates are assuming the trip goes from April 1 – April 7, although better deals may be found at other times throughout the year.

US Airways is one airline that flies from the United States to Madrid, Spain. This company sends out over 3,200 flights each day and serves over 200 communities in Europe, North America, the Caribbean and Latin America. Passengers are allowed one carry-on bag weighing up to 40 pounds and one personal item like a laptop bag, purse or briefcase. A checked bag will cost $15 extra and any additional bags are $25. Round-trip airline tickets to and from New York City to Madrid in April will cost around $544, plus taxes and baggage fees and will take about 15 hours one way, stopping in Philadelphia and Washington-Dulles airport. To fly from Los Angeles, you’ll pay $714 for a 14-17 hour flight, stopping only in Philadelphia.

The Delta airline can fly to Madrid from New York City with one stop for $634.20 or non-stop for $50 more. The shortest April flights take between 8 and 10 hours. Flights from Los Angeles range from about $884 – $934 and take around 14 hours. Baggage check is $15 for the first extra bag and $25 for the second bag. Many fliers find that Delta has a wide range of amenities, including movies and refreshments. Delta services 170 million passengers each year and takes passengers to 368 destinations in 66 countries.

Iberia airline, Spain’s largest air transport group, now offers round-trip airline tickets from New York City to Madrid for $671 or from LA for $929. This local carrier enjoys a prestigious spot in the Madrid airline terminal. They recently renovated their VIP lounge at the terminal to attract more business travel passengers. Iberia proudly declares that they are the only European carrier to post a profit in each of the past 13 years. They serve more than 100 destinations and they are one of Europe’s most modern fleets.

Ibiza is well known for its clubs and nightlife, but did you know it can also be a great destination for a family holiday too? The best thing about Ibiza is the wide range of attractions it offers along with the climate to match, so it is definitely somewhere you should consider.

If you didn’t know already, Ibiza is an island in the Mediterranean sea and therefore has a very warm a pleasant climate, as well as great beaches. It isn’t quite as hot at peak temperature as Mallorca but it is pretty close, and will nearly always provide you with good weather for your holiday.

On the other hand the winters are quite mild although you are likely to get some rain if you go during this time. Unlike the UK or the US though you will rarely get frost or snow, and it isn’t likely to be freezing temperatures.

I always advise that when you start thinking about buying a holiday you should make sure you know exactly how much you spend first. This avoids the disappointment of finding the perfect luxury villa in Ibiza only to realise that actually you can’t afford it anyway. It will also help you to narrow down the huge number of options that are available on the island.

The fact that you can get such cheap flights from budget airlines these days does make it easier to get a better holiday because not so much of your money is taken up with the cost of flying. Usually the earlier you book with budget flights the cheaper they will be so bear that in mind.

If you do decide to fly then once you get to the airport you will be met with plenty of companies that allow you to hire a car. It is often a good idea to rent one before you arrive though so you can look at reviews and get the best price. Make sure you check with the provided which documents you need.

On the other hand you can get to Ibiza via ferry from Barcelona depending on your tastes. It only takes a few hours and can be a lot of fun. When going to Ibiza you should always choose the transport that is going to be the least stressful, because there is nothing worse than having a bad journey to your holiday. If in doubt it is probably better to pay a bit extra and get good quality transport rather than going for the very cheapest if it isn’t going to be any good.

Have fun on your holiday in Ibiza, and remember that the island has plenty of things to see and is quite small, so don’t be afraid to leave your villa!

It is one of the most popular holiday resorts and the whole of the Mediterranean and is extremely famous for its vibrant nightlife and its great parties. However, that is not all; Magaluf from the surrounding area has plenty to offer every type of tourist and suit every budget.

Magaluf for are the perfect destinations for parties and relaxing, but there is also plenty of other things to do including a wide diversity of water sports, scuba diving, small boat cruises and plenty more. The nightlife is legendary an extremely popular for people from all over Europe, especially tourists from Britain. The resort hosts a number of world famous DJs and there is always plenty going on.

However, Magaluf is also popular for families and older people. Having been reformed somewhat in recent years, it is become more family friendly and although it is certainly not last for anything of its famous nightlife, it has become more diverse and suitable for larger group of people.

Magaluf has a great choice of restaurants and other entertainment venues and has something for just about every taste you can imagine. Price there are quite reasonable and you can also find plenty of shops to suit everyone, the main shopping area being in the very centre and along the promenade where you can find plenty of souvenirs and other things.

Because so such a great deal of competition, it shouldn’t be difficult to find a cheap holiday or a good deal on an all inclusive package to the island. Start by going to your local travel agency and see what they can do for you. And don’t be worried about finding things to do when you get there, since there are activities such as scuba diving, windsurfing and just about anything you can imagine.

by Bill Miley

If you’re looking to vacation on the largest island of the beautiful country of Spain, and you’re on somewhat of a budget, then you’re going to be interested in finding cheap Majorca holidays easily and with little muss or fuss. And who wouldn’t want to spend a sun-drenched stretch of time on that most memorable and enjoyable body of land lying in the Mediterranean Sea?

Veteran vacationers who are up on the Spanish island know just how diverting and interesting Majorca can be. It’s also a fact that most holiday goers are looking to save money when possible, given how rocky the economy’s been lately. Vacation travel has taken a bit of a harder hit than was expected just a year ago, but this is most likely due to the “staycation” phenomenon more than anything.

It’s a good thing, however, that there’s never been a more attractive time to vacation on islands like Majorca. It’s still a popular tourist hot spot, with many travelers from Germany or the United Kingdom continuing to fill hotel rooms at a decent clip. “Package tourism, ” which is what this activity is known as in the travel industry, still seems to be the recommended way to go, for all the economy’s troubles.

The island itself features over 250 miles of coastline, much of which is made up of family-friendly beaches and enjoyable resort towns. It’s also true that there’s a goodly number of inexpensive holiday accommodations all over the island, most of which participate in a universe of “all inclusive” vacation packages offered through a number of popular travel agencies.

As far as cost goes, well… This has to be the most alluring aspect when it comes to considering cheap Majorca holidays. Most can be had for under five-hundred USD per person, including airfare, which is an impressively low figure. As an example, that 500 dollar figure will allow one to stay at popular Magalluf for seven nights of pure enjoyment.

Finding cheap Majorca holidays easily is just a matter of going to one of the major search engines and typing in something relating to these sorts of package tourism deals. It’s a good bet that with a few clicks of a mouse, the holiday can be signed and sealed in just a few minutes. Once that’s done, pack a case and get ready for some fun.
